More than 10 years since it was first published, the Singapore Red Data Book has been given an update thanks to the collaborative effort by Nature Society (Singapore), National University of Singapore, NParks and 63 expert contributors.
Funded by Shell, the second edition highlights the flora and fauna most in need of attention in Singapore. By providing an insight into the fragility of Singapore’s natural heritage, it is hoped that the book will galvanise more people into action towards sustainable development.
The 282-page publication was launched on 29 November 2008 by Professor Tommy Koh, Ambassador-At-Large.
The data in the book is classified according to the latest categories set out by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
