Zhenghua Park provides a "Corridor of Discoveries" for its visitors. It aims to meet the rising expectations and recreational needs of Singaporeans wanting an improvement to the physical environment and quality of life.
The charming rustic park was built between the PUB pipeline reserve and the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) amidst Bukit Panjang housing estate. Completed in June 2002, this linear park stretches for about 2.5km along the BKE and links Bukit Panjang Park Connector to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve.
Although it is situated along a major expressway, residents and nature lovers will find this park a pleasant retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. Its rugged terrain is a perfect platform for cycling enthusiasts and those wishing for a good hike. Other facilities such as the playground and fitness equipment provide a place of relaxation and enjoyment with family and friends.
A variety of trees were planted throughout the park with forest giants such as the Shorea displaying a dominant presence with over twenty different species planted. Visitors may occasionally find rubber seeds scattered on the ground upon dispersal from its parent plant Hevea brasiliensis. Some pockets of vegetation are deliberately left wild to add to the rural charm of the park.
