OVERVIEW

This course aims to teach tree care workers the importance of proper pruning techniques to prevent and minimise defects arising from poor pruning techniques. The trainer will also guide participants in identifying common signs, symptoms and defects on trees visually during field training. Through this course, tree care workers will be trained to spot certain signs, symptoms and conditions of trees while performing arboriculture operations work. They will also learn how to take necessary corrective measures and understand what follow-up actions ar required after identifying defects.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • Introduction to tree pruning techniques with emphasis on the correct pruning technique to minimise defects arising from poor pruning practices
  • identification of common signs, symptoms and defects in trees on field
  • Implementation of corrective measures and follow-up actions after identifying these defects

ABOUT THE TRAINER

Mr Tan Chin Peng is currently a Deputy Director of Streetscape Division at National Parks Board and has been working as an arborist for the past 20 years. He holds a degree in Management from the University of London, is an ISA certified Arborist and is ISA TRAQ qualified from the International Society of Arboriculture, USA.
