Post-conference Tour

A 7-day post-conference tour to Danum Valley, Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary and Gomantong Caves, Sabah will be organised in March 2009. The Danum Valley Conservation Area is situated in South-eastern Sabah, Malaysia, it covers 43,800 ha and comprises mainly of lowland dipterocarp forest. The Danum Valley Field Centre is located approximately 70 km inland from the town of Lahad Datu on Sabah's east coast. Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary is known for its remarkable wildlife and fascinating habitats such as limestone caves at Gomantong hill, dryland dipterocarp forests, riverine forest, freshwater swamp forest, oxbow lakes and salty mangrove swamps near the coast.

Itinerary  
  Day 01 Arrive at Lahad Datu airport & transfer to Danum Valley (Borneo Rainforest Lodge or Danum Valley Field Centre).
Meals : Dinner only.
Accommodation : Borneo Rainforest Lodge or Hostel, Danum Valley Field Center.
     
  Day 02-03 Within Danum Valley Field Center.
Meals : Breakfast, lunch & dinner.
Accommodation : Borneo Rainforest Lodge or Hostel, Danum Valley Field Center.
     
  Day 04 Morning in Danum Valley. Late morning transfer to Sukau via Lahad Datu Enroute visit the Gomantong Caves.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner.
Accommodation: Sukau Rainforest Lodge or similar, Sukau.
     
  Day 05-06 Sukau - birding in motorized boats & small trails.
Meals : Breakfast, lunch & dinner.
Accommodation: Sukau Rainforest Lodge or similar, Sukau.
     
  Day 07 Morning in Sukau. Late morning depart for Lahad Datu airport
Meals : Breakfast only.
     
Tour price for the 7 days/6 nights Post-Conference Tour to Borneo is as follows:  
  S$1830.00 net per person for Borneo Rainforest Lodge & Sukau Rainforest Lodge or similar.
S$1108.00 net per person for hostel, Danum Valley Field Centre & Sukau Rainforest Lodge or similar.
Single supplement (by choice/circumstances) is S$405.00 net per person (for Borneo Rainforest Lodge) and S$180.00 net per person (in Sukau).
Prices quoted in Singapore dollars.
 
Tour price is inclusive of
  a) Services of a local nature guide accompanying the party throughout the tour (Day 1 - 7), his fees & expenses,
  b) Lodging in twin-shared room in Borneo Rainforest Lodge or hostel (Danum Valley Field Center) and on a twin-shared room with private facilities in Sukau,
  c) 3 meals a day (Western/Chinese/Malay) on a set meal basis & as provided for by the respective restaurants visited & as shown in the itinerary starting with dinner on Day 1 & ending with breakfast on Day 7.
  d) Overland transportation in an air-conditioned sightseeing vehicle for transfers, excursions & on a standby basis. Note: A non air-conditioned vehicle may be used within Danum Valley.
  e) Boat excursions within Sukau.
  f) Gratuity for porters, boatmen, drivers, etc.
  g) Entry permits for Danum Valley & the Gomantong Caves.
 
Tour Price excludes
  a) All flights (domestic & international) & airport taxes.
b) All insurance (including tour cancellation insurance).
c) Camera license e.g. at Gomantong Caves (RM 30.00), etc.
d) Expenses of a private nature e.g. private tours, excursions & transfers, alcoholic & non-alcoholic drinks (including mineral water), etc.
 
  Current air-fares by SilkAir & Malaysian Airlines as follows but these may change in the next few months;

1) Singapore to Kota Kinabalu and return on Silkair S$615.00 incl. tax (return)
2) Kota Kinabalu to Lahad Datu and return on Malaysian Airlines S$168.00 incl. tax (return)

If there are direct flights from Singapore to Sandakan or Lahad Datu in March 2009, we can probably change the flights.
