Green Friends Forum

The Green Friends Forum (GFF) is a platform to engage youths on horticulture and urban greenery issues in Singapore. There are two signature programmes – Experience and Sandbox. Both programmes aim to provide opportunities for youths to understand the science behind the greening of Singapore and experience what goes on behind the scenes of creating our City in Nature. Through webinars, events, mentorships and networking platforms with professionals and like-minded enthusiasts, youths can also get to learn and equip themselves with technical skills and know-how to take action and co-create a City in Nature. For more enquiries about GFF, email us at YSN@nparks.gov.sg.

GFF Experience

GFF Experience is a short and sweet 3-session sampler on topics about horticulture, arboriculture and landscape design – the core skills and sciences that form the guiding principles to grow and sustain our verdant gardens, parks and streets. Each session is about 1.5 – 2 hours and the sessions may be conducted virtually and/or on site. Online registration for the GFF Experience 2023 is now closed.

Step up and act for greenery! Tell us how you can create small but positive impact for greenery. Share with us photos and a short write-up of your act for greenery here.

GFF Sandbox

Plug into the network of ‘greenies’ and discuss all topics on greenery and gardening via the GFF Sandbox. This platform is a safe, moderated space for youths to dip into the community, form specific interest groups with fellow fans of gardening, urban greening or other related topics and soak in the camaraderie of like-minded youths. Develop your ideas and thoughts in this hive mind of greenies and act to bring it to fruition or simply learn from one another. Join the GFF Sandbox mailing list to receive more information, including updates on upcoming activities and virtual meet ups!

Please note that this programme is for vaccinated, pre-registered participants only. Activities will be held on-site with safe management measures. Successful registrants will be notified via a confirmation email.

For experience in the working world of landscape and greenery, register to join our mentorship programme – the Youth Stewards for Nature. This 6-month, hands-on mentorship provides real-world experience as youths work alongside professionals in areas like planting and monitoring of biodiversity in nature ways, conceptualising nature playgardens, co-facilitation of therapeutic horticulture programmes and many others.

Participation in the above mentioned programmes could qualify you for the National Youth Achievement Awards (NYAA) programme.
