Immerse yourself in the fragrant world of spices in a hands-on workshop inspired by the historic Experimental and Botanical Garden, established in 1822 at Fort Canning Hill by Sir Stamford Raffles. This garden played a pivotal role in Singapore’s response to the global spice trade, cultivating valuable crops like nutmeg and clove, which were as prized as gold during the colonial era.

Participants will explore the fundamentals of rempah making, from crafting wet blends to creating unique combinations that celebrate Southeast Asia’s rich spice heritage. Guided by generations of traditional spice-blending techniques, the workshop connects the artistry of spice mixing to its historical significance in shaping Singapore’s identity.

This session offers a flavourful journey into Singapore’s cultural and botanical history, highlighting the global influence of the spice trade and its enduring legacy in the timeless craft of blending spices. Take home both knowledge and inspiration from this engaging experience.
