Gingers are an important spice where they add flavour to our cuisines. Botanically classified as rhizomes, the plant part that is used for food is the horizontal underground stem of the plant and it contains the desired aromatic essential oils and flavour compounds. A range of ginger species can be found on sale in our local markets and most of these can be grown in the home garden. Attend this virtual talk by Dr Wilson Wong to learn more about these gingers, their growth habits and requirements.
