In August's Bazaar in the Garden (BIG), join us for a day of fun and exciting programmes!
Kick-start your day with us through the fun filled series of children's programmes to learn more about the biodiversity in Jurong Lake Gardens!
Following this, spend your afternoon with us and learn about growing edible plants and have your questions answered by Dr WIlson Wong!
Join us onsite or from the comforts of your home and we hope to see you at BIG.
Online Talks and Workshops
Do register for the number of devices you will be using for the session. If there will be more than 1 participant joining the session under 1 device, please indicate the numbers in the remarks when you are registering.
Children’s Storytelling
9.00am – 10.00am
Join us in this virtual storytelling session to discover how a frog, a pig, and an elephant's unsuccessful race to the Johor straits ended up turning into the Pulau Ubin we know today!
Also learn about the tale of two sisters turned islands in this session and make your very own rainbow card after the stories!

Jurong Lake Gardens Scavenger Hunt

Help Mr. Honeybee find the items that he needs to celebrate Mid Autumn Festival!

How to Set Up a Beautiful Outdoor Edible Garden | BIG x TOYL
2.00pm – 3.00pm
Your edible gardens need not look so boring. With a well executed and planned design and selection of plants, you can create beautiful edible gardens with a variety of colours, textures, and garden wildlife. Join our in-house horticulture specialist Dr. Wilson Wong as he discusses how to create an aesthetically pleasing and productive edible garden in the tropics!

Online Gardening Q&A (August)
3.00pm – 3.45pm
Have issues growing plants in your garden? Join us in this virtual meeting to get them answered by our in-house horticulturist, Dr Wilson Wong. This session will be run monthly during Bazaar in the Garden.
Upon successful registration, do send your photos with your questions to JurongLakeGardens@nparks.gov.sg by 24th August 2022, 5pm if you would like Dr Wilson Wong to have a more thorough understanding of your question. You may also choose to ask questions during the live session without sending photos.

On-site programmes
Biodiversity Tour
Come on down to Jurong Lake Gardens and learn about the rich biodiversity that you can find here! Breathe in the fresh air and listen to the delightful sounds of nature on a free guided walk.
Smell the fragrance of flowers in bloom and take in the sights of the variety of plants in the gardens.
Dress comfortably and wear suitable footwear. Bring along a water bottle, hat and a camera to take lots of photos!

MOLLY the Mobile Library (August)

Join us as we bring the library closer to you!

Event will be held at Wave Plaza near Forest Ramble.

About MOLLY the Mobile Library
As part of the National Library Board’s commitment to promote reading and making books available to all children, MOLLY® the Mobile Library provide access to a large collection of children’s books, along with services like book borrowing and returning, at selected pre-schools, Special Education (SPED) schools, or communities with little access to libraries.
MOLLY® the Mobile Library comprises of one big MOLLY bus and two mini-MOLLY buses, which carry thousands of books and visit special education centres and pre-schools, kindergartens and childcare centres in the Housing and Development Board (HDB) estates.
The latest edition – MOLLY® 3 – is equipped with new features such as a wheelchair lift, a magnetic whiteboard for activity sessions, and customised child-friendly book stations at a convenient height for young readers that allow children to borrow and return books by themselves.
This event is brought to you through a collaboration between NParks and National Library Board.
Bonsai Demonstration
4.00pm - 5.00pm

Ever wanted to learn how to create a Penjing (i.e, Peking landscape)? Join Mr. Lee King Keong of Yuhua Bonsai and Artistic Stone club in this workshop as he demonstrates the creation and the appreciation of miniature landscape bonsai!
The workshop will mainly be conducted in English (do note that there will be Chinese characters in the workshop's lecture slides).
