But he is summoned by the queen to find a cure for her life-threatening disease and he soon embarks on a journey with his furry friends in search of a healing tree.

Take a journey through Fort Canning’s very own Spice Garden in this special showcase of locally foraged culinary spices. Gain a new perspective on how spices are used in original cocktails whilst hearing from one of Singapore’s top mixologists, Leon Tan on the craft of drinks mixing/inventing and ingredients discovery.

Through a live demonstration of three different types of cocktails (shaken/stirred/build), participants will be able to enjoy a tasting at the end of the demonstration. Mocktail versions will be available.

Join this guided tour of the two newest features at Fort Canning Park - the Fort Canning Heritage Gallery and the Spice Gallery, which is part of the enhanced Spice Garden. Learn all about the history of the hill while viewing the unique artefacts excavated from Fort Canning Park at the interactive Heritage Gallery, before heading to the Spice Gallery to trace the history of the spice trade in Singapore. 

Fort Canning Heritage Gallery

The Fort Canning Heritage Gallery traces more than 700 years of history to provide park visitors with an informative and in-depth overview of the rich heritage of Fort Canning Hill. Each of the gallery’s five zones is themed according to a particular aspect or role that the historic Fort Canning Hill played in the broader history of Singapore. The gallery features archaeological artefacts excavated from sites within Fort Canning Park and multiple digital interactive stations. Content from the Singapore Bicentennial centrepiece event in 2019 has also been repurposed into a cinematic experience in the gallery, and visitors can watch a condensed version of the ‘From Singapore to Singaporean: The Bicentennial Experience’ video in a mini-theatrette at the gallery.

Preview Exhibition - Kaleidoscope in Clay (I): Glazes and Forms through 5,000 years of Chinese Ceramics

The Society for Chinese Ceramics Studies (SCCS) presents the exhibition ‘Kaleidoscope in Clay (I): Glazes and Forms through 5,000 years of Chinese Ceramics’. It showcases over 140 pieces of Chinese ceramics from SCCS members’ collection, including pieces dated to as early as more than 4,000 years ago. SCCS will also be organising a 12-lecture course on ‘A History of Chinese Ceramics’ in conjunction with the exhibition. This is the first time the Society of Chinese Ceramics Studies has organised an exhibition of this scale in Singapore.

A preview of 12 selected exhibits from ‘Kaleidoscope in Clay (I) - Glazes and Forms through 5,000 years of Chinese Ceramics‘ runs from 26 August 2022 to 11 September 2022. The full exhibition will open to public from 7 October 2022 to 10 February 2023. The second exhibition of this two-part exhibition series will run from 24 February to 30 June 2023.

Spice Gallery

Open Daily | 7am – 10pm | Spice Garden

The new Fort Canning Spice Gallery is an extension of the existing Spice Garden at Fort Canning Park. The enhanced Spice Garden now features close to 80 species of plants, such as herbs and spice trees, with around 40 species of plants that are new to the Spice Gallery. With interpretive panels, interactive displays, and curated planting, the Spice Gallery provides visitors with an interactive and informative experience. Visitors can learn more about the role that spice trade played in the history of Singapore, the early history of spice plantations here, and the importance of Fort Canning Park in promoting Singapore as a spice trading and producing hub, beginning from when it housed Singapore’s first botanical and experimental garden founded in 1822.
