A large coastal native tree that can grow between 25 m to 45 m in height. Crown is dense and irregularly dome-shaped. Trunk has greyish brown bark and becomes scaly with age. Leaves are large, simple and leathery, with a distinct downturned tip, dark glossy green above and light green on underside. Flowers are large and white and occur in clusters, fragrant. Fruits are oblong in shape with a leathery green skin.
