Eco-learning Journey in HortPark (For Schools)

The Eco-learning Journey programme is a series of gardening workshops that aims to educate and instill a sense of nature stewardship in the younger generation.

Junior Potters’ Garden Adventure

Have a fun adventure learning all about the green treasures in the Pitter Patter Potter Garden! Smell, touch and see the plants around, while you learn about life cycles of plants, the uses of different plant parts, the importance of plants to us and the relationship between plants and garden animals. Try growing plants from seeds at the end of your tour!

Target level: K1 to Primary 1 (5 to 7 years old)
Cost: Free
Duration: 1.5 hours
Group size: A minimum of 15 participants and maximum of 40 participants per group

Note:

  • In the event of wet weather, an indoor activity will be conducted.
  • Worksheets and materials will be provided for hands-on activity.

Young Potters’ Garden Study

Go on a journey in the Pitter Patter Potter Garden to explore the various seed dispersal methods, learn about plant life cycles, observe different parts of a plant and discover the unusual relationship between plants and animals. Learn how plants multiply, and have a go at gardening through a funfilled hands-on session. The Young Potters’ Garden Study will help you to appreciate nature, and better understand how living things interact with their environment.

Target level: Primary 2 to Primary 4 (8 to 10 years old)
Cost: Free
Duration: 1.5 hours
Group size: A minimum of 15 participants and maximum of 40 participants per group

Junior Butterfly Explorers

This is an interactive tour and workshop at the Butterfly Garden. Observe the different stages of the butterfly life cycle and the various ways these winged jewels have evolved over time to adapt to their environment. You can also observe the different species of butterflies up close.

Target level: Primary 5 to Primary 6 (11 to 12 years old)
Cost: Free
Duration: 1.5 hours

Young Butterfly Explorers

This programme explores the importance of biodiversity as well as the relationships between butterflies and the other organisms in their environment. Learn about the role of butterflies in the ecosystem and the importance of conserving the environment.

Target level: Secondary 1 and Secondary 2 (13 to 14 years old)

Duration: 1.5 hours
