one-north Park is a 16-ha park consisting of 13 land parcels spanning across the entire length of one-north and is a key element in JTC’s masterplan for one-north to create a work-live-play-learn environment. When fully completed, it will serve as an integrated green link connecting key developments such as Biopolis, Fusionopolis, Mediapolis and the one-north MRT station.
one-north Park: Fusionopolis North is a 0.58ha park located along Central Exchange Green. It was sensitively developed, based on principles of environmental sustainability. Multi-tiered and diverse vegetation were planted at the park to attract biodiversity, in particular, butterflies.
Other than featuring a wide variety of butterfly-attracting plant species, the park also has a rain garden designed to capture rainwater run-off from surrounding paved areas. The vegetation and soil in the rain garden will filter impurities from the run-off and recharge the groundwater.
Wilmar contributed an in-kind donation to the Garden City Fund for the enhancement of the abutting park, the one-north Park: Fusionopolis North. Designed by the renowned landscape architect Henry Steed, the enhancement works were done to the existing park to provide greater synergy between the Wilmar HQ building and the 0.5 ha park.
In keeping with the environmental sustainability focus to reduce off-site disposal and the carbon footprint, the new park amenities which include nature playgarden, pavilion with planting frames, improved pedestrian path network and benches etc, were constructed using materials from the original park. For example, excess soil from the site was reused for land contouring to complement the existing rain garden. The previous deconstructed paths were repurposed as base foundations for new footpaths; play components and benches were partially made from recycled tree logs etc.
