Alstonia Island is planted predominantly with Alstonia spatulata. The island’s conditions are greatly influenced by the changes in the water level of Jurong Lake, and the plant species on Alstonia Island were chosen to reflect the natural history of the area - swamp forests and wetlands that were the original habitat prior to the development of Jurong.
