Celebrate SG50 with NParks’ First SG50 Concert featuring local talents and SG Heart Map @ Park

06 Mar 2015 Singapore, 6 March 2015 – As part of the SG50 celebrations, the National Parks Board (NParks) will be organising a series of six free outdoor concerts at various parks around Singapore. The first concert in NParks Concert Series in the Park will be held at Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park on 14 March 2015 at 6 pm, at Grand Lawns I and II. It will feature local talents including Kit Chan, Olivia Ong, Jack & Rai, Matthew and the Mandarins and Suhaimi Yusof, as well as performances by Catholic High School, MacPherson Primary School and Kebun Baru CC’s Singapore First Elvis Fan Club.

The concert is held in conjunction with SG Heart Map @ Park, the first celebration of the SG Heart Map initiative. The SG Heart Map seeks to weave memorable past places, meaningful new places and aspirations for future places into a collective map through the shared stories of Singaporeans. Through the stories contributed by Singaporeans to the SG Heart Map, parks have been highlighted as one of the favourite places in Singapore.  Thus, this event presents yet another opportunity for families and friends to enjoy an evening of fun and music together, while creating new shared experiences with each other.

Members of the public can re-live their childhood with games of yesteryears at the park, participate in the SG Heart Map Kite Festival with its specially-designed giant kites and motorised kites displays, or relax on their picnic mats with snacks while revelling in the celebratory ambience. Local literary works on giant inflatables will line the SG Heart Map Festival Walk, specially set up at the park, for Singaporeans who are keen to enjoy a leisure stroll and a quiet moment with each other. As they relish the childhood-themed literary works, they are also invited to share their stories of treasured places they frequented and enjoyed when they were young through the SG Heart Map vans onsite, or take a photo along the colourful Festival Walk to remember this special day out at the park.

To mark this joyous occasion for the SG Heart Map, members of the public are also invited to be part of this first celebration event by joining in the creation of a one-of-a-kind SG Heart Map formation, at the heart of the park, before the concert. For more information, visit www.heartmap.sg.

With many exciting activities lined up, the evening at Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park promises to inspire the creation of new shared memories and experiences, as we celebrate the beautiful and special places in our hearts and the bonds connecting us together.
