21 Jul 2020

- Meet dogs, cats and hamsters up for adoption

- Pick up tips from a live dog training demo with AVS’ animal behaviourist

Pets’ Day Out (PDO), a regular rehoming platform organised by the Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS), will be held live on Facebook (www.facebook.com/AnimalBuzzSG) this Saturday , 25 July 2020 at 3pm. Hosted by Justin Misson, e-PDO will feature rescued animals up for adoption as well as an expanded version of our key segment “Chat with our Vets”. The vets are from AVS, a cluster of the National Parks Board (NParks).

Animals up for adoption

This edition of e-PDO will see hamsters, cats and dogs from the following AVS’ partner Animal Welfare Groups (AWGs):

  • Cat Welfare Society (CWS)
  • Hamster Society Singapore (HSS)
  • Noah’s Ark CARES (NAC)

CWS will be showcasing four cats up for adoption, which are currently cared for by fosterers. HSS, one of AVS’ newest partner AWG, will have two hamsters up for adoption during the programme. NAC, a partner AWG for AVS’ Trap-Neuter-Release-Manage programme, will be featuring one of its dogs from its Jurong Island shelter during the session.

Chat with our Vets

AVS’ vets, Dr Teo Boon Han and Dr Denyse Khor will be co-hosting the segment “Chat with our Vets”. They will be sharing more about being a responsible pet owner, and how to care for pocket pets. AVS’ animal behaviourist, Chong Qiai will be demonstrating live how to train a dog to walk on leash and sharing tips on understanding dogs’ behaviours. Viewers can pose pet care and health related questions to the vets and animal behaviourist where they will be answering them live.

Support the AWGs

AVS has put together a one-stop portal (www.nparks.gov.sg/pdo) where the public can find out more about Pets’ Day Out and support the 14 partner AWGs by purchasing the AWGs’ merchandise or donating directly to the AWGs.

There will also be fun packs with limited edition merchandise and goodies up for grabs. So don’t miss e-PDO on 25 July from 3pm – 4.30pm at AnimalBuzzSG Facebook page.
