In this issue, we are giving away five Singapore Botanic Gardens 2020 calendar. Contest Issue 43

Highlights

I know, I just had some vacation time earlier this year, but I have the travel itch again! This is more so, now that we are coming to the end of the year. For some, while there is still the important examination period in the immediate future, the thought of some much-deserved R&R, after this stressful period, is also beckoning.

In this issue, we take you “away” without really leaving the island. For anyone dreaming of an island getaway but cannot find the time nor have the budget for it, how about getting closer to nature on three “islands” – Pulau Ubin, Sisters’ Islands Marine Park and Coney Island Park – without the need for your passport? And you can enjoy a quick trip around the world, thanks to the many familiar roadside trees that originated from exotic locations such as Madagascar and Central America! Read the article Singapore’s International Trees, to learn more.

How about enjoying some time in Singapore by exploring lesser known parks? The article Small But Mighty introduces some smaller parks that you may have missed. And daddies and mummies with little ones will surely appreciate the article School’s Out, Fun’s In! It offers you more ideas for the whole family to do during the end-year school holidays.

Travelling gives us opportunities to see and learn new things, but we do not always need to go too far to feel recharged or to find new places to discover. Our many green spaces offer new adventures and can also be soothing retreats. Here’s wishing you happy holidays wherever you choose to go in what’s left of 2019!
