This hands-on workshop introduces participants to the basic growing needs of edible plants. Participants will also learn how to assess their indoor space to identify suitable spots for their edible gardening endeavour.

Introduction to Home Gardening 
Growing plants at home brings about great satisfaction. Learn how to anticipate and address the challenges of growing plants at home, including planning for your home garden. You can also gather tips to propagate your own potted plants. This introductory workshop will give you a strong start to your home gardening journey which will certainly bring you great joy.

Grow your Edibles Indoors: Planting Media and Plant Propagation (Part 2)
Plants grow in soil, but is soil the only suitable growing medium? This hands-on workshop introduces the components of planting media and focuses on what is suitable for growing vegetable indoors. Also, participants will learn some basic plant propagation techniques.

  • Troubleshooting of problems encountered by participants when growing edible plants (case studies from first session)
  • Types of planting media
  • Plant propagation techniques 
  • Transplanting of seedlings
  • Managing pests and diseases

Introduction to Growing Epiphytes (Orchids) 
Keen to do some gardening but not ready to have potted plants at home yet? Try your hands at growing orchids instead! Many tropical orchid species and hybrids are epiphytic. They thrive well without soil. You will bring home your own orchid plant to start your gardening journey.
