(A Tour & Craft Activity)


Children will have the opportunity to explore the Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden to take a closer look at flowering plants. Join us on this trail to learn about flowers – their beautiful colours, the different parts of a flower and their functions. Complete your exploration by crafting your own flowers.

New I See, I Smell, I Touch

(A Hands-on Workshop)


Stimulate your senses by joining us on this exploratory workshop at the Centre for Education and Outreach. Learn about visually captivating flowers and herbs, sniff to discover if a flower or herb tickles your nose and gently rub parts of a plant between your fingers to discern how they feel. The workshop ends with a hands-on planting of your very own herb garden.

New Be a Budding Botanist

(A Hands-on Workshop)


Go behind the scenes to learn about the important research work which happens at the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Children will have the chance to tour the Garden’s Herbarium, which is home to an amazing collection of 750,000 plant specimens, and step into the shoes of a botanist by learning how to create their very own herbarium specimen.

New Create a Kokedama

(A Hands-on Workshop)


Learn the art of making your very own Kokedama, the Japanese term for moss ball. Kokedamas originated from Japan where bonsai plants are grown in moss-covered balls made of soil. Children will learn how to shape moss and planting media together to create an attractive sphere which can be used as a hanging planter in their homes.

New Storytelling: The People Who Hugged Trees


Come on a journey with us and be enthralled by the fascinating story of The People Who Hugged Trees whilst surrounded by nature. Amrita visits the forest and hugs her favourite tree each day. But one day, the King’s men come to chop the trees down. This beautiful tale from India is based on a true story, about the importance of not only protecting the environment but also standing up for what you believe in.

Numbers and Shapes

Follow a trail of numbers and shapes through the Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden. Children will discover many fascinating plants and interesting leaf shapes that exist in Nature. Using their imagination and creativity, they will also have the opportunity to create their very own unique leaf print artwork.

New Plant-enstein: Growing Kitchen Scraps & Upcycling Planters

(A Hands-on Workshop)


Did you know that you can regrow vegetables from leftover kitchen scraps? Learn how to create your very own Plant-enstein from unused parts of different vegetables. Children will learn how to plant vegetable parts to regrow them into a new plant and upcycle containers into an attractive animal planter.
