New Singapore Botanic Gardens: Our Heritage

(A Tour & Craft Activity)

 

Established in 1859, the Singapore Botanic Gardens has played an important part in the cultural and economic history of Singapore. Join us to be enthralled and enriched by the rich heritage of the Gardens. This workshop begins with a tour and ends with a craft session where children make their own Vanda Miss Joaquim flower.

New  “Grow with Nature” Drama Series: The Grouchy Ladybug
(A Drama & Planting Workshop)


Nature holds many life lessons anyone can learn. By dramatising stories on plants and animals, children can pick up acting skills and understand the importance of character-building qualities such as tenderness and generosity. Through these drama workshops, children will also be taught how to care for nature and develop an appreciation for biodiversity. They will also have the opportunity to plant and bring home a dish garden.

Join us and find out what happens in the story of the grouchy ladybug!

New  Curious Cacti & Spectacular Succulents
(A Hands-on Workshop)


Have you ever been curious about plants which can flourish in dry desert-like climates? Join us on a tour of the Sun Garden and learn about these sun-loving plants, which come in many interesting colours and shapes. Participants will also get the opportunity to create and bring home their very own succulent garden.

New  Larger than Life: Seeds! 
(An Investigative Workshop)


Have you ever wondered how the contents of a small seed can eventually grow so big? Participants will have the opportunity to view cross sections of seeds and learn about their different parts using basic microscopy. They will also learn about “monocots” and “dicots” and discover the budding scientist within them through creating observation notes and building mini experimental set-ups for growing seeds in different planting media.

New  Storytelling: Bat’s Big Game

Come on a journey with us and be enthralled by the fascinating story of Bat’s Big Game whilst surrounded by nature. The Animal Team and the Bird Team have gathered for a game of soccer, but is Bat an animal or a bird? He has trouble deciding which team to join because he has both fur and wings. Join us to find out!
