Discover the amazing world of pollination and the role that pollinators such as birds, bees and butterflies play in this process to allow plants to develop from flower to fruit. Follow us on a journey through Children’s Garden and learn about the relationship between plants, pollinators and ourselves. Participants will get the opportunity to spot different plants and pollinators that make their home in the Gardens.

Ethnobotany Tour: Plants and their Many Uses
Discover the many uses of plants for food, clothing, medicine and craft, locally and in Southeast Asia. Appreciate the importance of plants in our daily lives! Gain awareness on how plants have shaped human culture and why it is necessary to preserve such knowledge for the future.
Students will receive a field journal to record their discoveries in the Centre of Ethnobotany and Ethnobotany Garden.

Learning Forest Tour
This tour will bring you through the lowland rainforest and restored freshwater wetland habitats in the Learning Forest. This latest addition to the Gardens adds 9.8-hectare to the existing Nature Area. Walk through the different layers of a tropical rainforest, observe the collection of giants on a network of elevated boardwalks and discover fascinating products of the forests. Learn more about the wetland, a restored freshwater habitat of native flora and fauna, once found in the Gardens back in the 19th century. Key features of the wetland include five of the eight freshwater vegetation belts described by the prominent botanist, EJH Corner.
*Please note that this programme is a comprehensive tour which includes both the SPH Walk of Giants and the Keppel Discovery Wetlands. Separate tours could be arranged to focus specifically on either the SPH Walk of Giants or the Keppel Discovery Wetlands.

Storytime with Sara - Sara Goes Back in Time
Sara, the Botanicosaurus, discovers a treasure chest of precious photos and items left behind by her grandmother, Nana. Each of these artefacts tells a story of the wonderful plants and people that have contributed to the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Join Sara as she explores the Gardens and uncovers its rich heritage! Participants will go on a guided tour of the Heritage Museum and Heritage Core of the Gardens.

Foliage Garden Tour
Join us for a guided tour of the Foliage Garden to learn about a wide array of ornamental plants boasting colourful foliage of varying shapes and textures. Spot interesting plants that lend themselves to the beauty of nature as you stroll along the boardwalk. Participants will learn that colours and diversity of plants do not rest solely on flowers!

Conservation of the Native Orchids of Singapore
Do you know that, of the 226 species of native orchids recorded in Singapore, more than 170 are considered to be extinct? Only five of them are common. Join us to learn about the recent orchid conservation programme, which sets out to monitor existing species, explore ways to conserve their germplasm and increase their number in various appropriate environments in Singapore. You will be amazed by the horticultural considerations and challenges involved in this meaningful re-introduction exercise. Students will go on a guided tour to learn more about the native orchids found around the Singapore Botanic Gardens.

Children are encouraged to take a closer look at selected flowering plants to increase their understanding of the forms and functions of flower parts. Healing Garden Tour
Spread over 2.5 hectares, Healing Garden is designed as a tranquil retreat with more than 400 species of medicinal plants traditionally used in South-East Asia as the main focus. Healing Garden is a reminder that plants are in fact chemical factories and serves as a plant bank where many species continue to thrive as their natural environments dwindle. Come and explore the Healing Garden, and you will find out more about traditional healing plants and their respective uses.

Heritage Tour
Established in 1859 by an agri-horticultural society, the Singapore Botanic Gardens (SBG) has been an important part in the cultural and economic history of Singapore. As the birth place of the region’s rubber and orchid industries, SBG played an integral historical role in the development of the economy of the Southeast Asian region. A walk through the Gardens will evoke memories of bygone days where ladies strolled through the Gardens with their parasols and long skirts.

Rainforest Trek
This tour will give you fascinating insights into this last remnant of the same forest that used to cover the whole of Singapore Island. The Gardens’ 6-hectare Rain Forest has a long historic record dating from 1880 when Henry Ridley (the Gardens’ first Director) collected plants and toadstools from it. Today, the Rain Forest is home to more than 300 plant species of which most are endangered, rare or vulnerable. You will hear stories and learn secrets about these giant trees and rare plants in the context of the fragile and unique rainforest ecosystem, comprising both the plants and animals. Come and join us for a unique trekking experience in the Singapore Botanic Gardens Rain Forest!
