Programmes for Educators

We offer a number of workshops, talks and tours through which we aim to share our knowledge and information about the Gardens and to equip educators who wish to lead their own tours for their students in the Singapore Botanic Gardens and the Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden.


1. Guided Tours for Educators:

These 1.5 hours guided tours will bring educators to various parts of the Singapore Botanic Gardens. During the tours, our guides will share background information of the Garden’s landscape, history as well as interesting facts of selected plants. To ensure a pleasurable learning experience, the group size of each tour session will be capped between 15 – 20 participants.

The following topics are available (please choose one) :

  1. Singapore Botanic Gardens: Our Heritage
  2. Plant Highlights at Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden
  3. National Orchid Garden Tour

Duration : 1.5hours
Fee : 
$15.00 per educator, subject to a minimum of 15 pax per group
Group Size : 
15 educators (min) to 20 educators (max)


2. Educational Talks for Educators:

Educators who wish to have a quick insight into the different areas of the Singapore Botanic Gardens may choose to attend our 30 minutes educational talks. A maximum of 60 educators may attend the talk in one session. Following that, you can then take a tour of the Gardens at your own leisure.

  3. National Orchid Garden Tour

3. Workshops: Nature Educators Series 

Our "Nature Educators" Series is suitable for teachers who wish to pick up knowledge and practical skills ranging from basic gardening to propagation of specific plant types. These knowledge and skills could be applied to kick-start new projects in school and/or be imparted to students from various interest groups, for example, the environmental club. The duration of each session may be 3 hours or 6 hours, depending on the selected workshop. To ensure a pleasurable learning experience, the group size of each workshop will be capped between 15 – 20 participants.

The following topics are available in the "Nature Educators" Series (please choose one):

  1. Basic Home Gardening
  2. Herbs and Spices
  3. Growing Tropical Orchids for Beginners

Duration : 6 hours, excluding 1 hour lunch break*
Fee : 
$80.00 per educator, subject to a minimum of 15 pax per group.
Group Size : 15 educators (min) to 20 educators (max)
Location : Classroom @ Botany Centre, Tanglin Core of the Singapore Botanic Gardens

*Lunch is not provided. Lunch options are available within 5 minutes walking distance. 


4. Speaker Series

The Singapore Botanic Gardens benefits from the knowledge and expertise of eminent visiting botanists, as well as distinguished local scientists. This series offers them a platform to share their passion and fascinating stories behind their research with the public. These talks take place every month on a Friday evening.
