Advisories pertaining to COVID-19 (Phase 2- Heightened Alert)
Effective 16 May 2021
In line with the Multi-Ministry Taskforce’s latest advisory, please see the below updates for our gardens.
Closure of facilities
The following facilities will be closed:
- Photosynthesis Play Area in Jacob Ballas Children's Garden
- Library of Botany & Horticulture
- Heritage Museum and CDL Green Gallery
- Centre for Ethnobotany
- Seed Bank
Our F&B outlets in our gardens and parks are open for take-away only, with safe management measures following guidelines by Enterprise Singapore. Dining in is not allowed.
Events and activities
We will be suspending most of our events and activities during this period. Please check back our website for further updates.
Sports and outdoor exercise activities
If you are engaging in sports and physical exercises, please do so individually or up to groups of 2 persons maximum and observe a safe distance of at least 2 metres between individuals.
Organised outdoor exercise classes can be conducted in groups of 2, up to a maximum of 30 people (including participants and the instructor/assistant) or the approved venue capacity, whichever is lower, with no inter-mingling between groups. Masks must be worn at all times for all group classes of more than 2 persons.
Instructors/trainers of all organised outdoor exercise classes (with more than 2 persons including participants and instructor/trainer) will need to register the class with SportSG and submit an application at least 14 days in advance, so as to ensure there is ample space in our parks and gardens for safe distancing.. Instructors/trainers must ensure that the necessary safe management measures are being put in place.
Wedding solemnisations and receptions
Selected function spaces in our parks/gardens are open for wedding solemnisations of up to 50 people, or up to 100 people if there is pre-event testing. This includes the couple, but excluding the solemniser and vendors, subject to safe management measures and the venue’s capacity. More info here.
Filming and Photography
For filming and photography in our gardens, please submit an online application here. Requests will be assessed based on factors such as the location, proposed filming hours, and whether safe-distancing measures can be put in place. Production companies should also comply with the guidelines by the Infocomms Media Development Authority.
Social and recreational activities
Social and recreational activities must be kept to a group size of up to 2 persons. You are required to wear a mask, except when engaging in strenuous exercises or consuming food, drink or medication. Please observe a safe distance of at least one metre from other visitors.
Please observe the advisories which have been put up in our green spaces, and check in with the SafeEntry QR code on the TraceTogether app, or bring your TraceTogether token if you are visiting these places.
Some of our parks, carparks and facilities such as shelters and lawns could be closed temporarily to ensure ample space for safe distancing.

National Orchid Garden and Jacob Ballas Children's Garden
The safety and well-being of our visitors are our priority and we have put in place necessary Safe Management Measures at the National Orchid Garden and Jacob Ballas Children's Garden.
During this period, both Gardens are operating with limited capacity and we seek your understanding on the following when the capacity has been reached:
- You may be required to wait till there is availability. Please expect a waiting time of about 1 to 2 hours.
- The last entry time may be as early as 4pm instead of the regular last admission timing as we are unable to accept more visitors.
