About the exhibition:
This exhibition presents the landscapes and landmarks of the Singapore Botanic Gardens, sketched by the members of Urban Sketchers Singapore, which is part of a global community of sketchers from all walks of life who enjoy sketching scenes of where they live and travel. The Singapore chapter was started in 2009 and has grown over the years into a lively community drawn together by their love for sketching.

For this exhibition, the sketchers were encouraged to explore different areas of the Gardens and capture its heritage and beauty in their works. They were free to use any media and approach they liked as long as the sketches were drawn according to the Urban Sketchers ethos of sketching on-location from direct observation. Hence what you see in this exhibition is the unique perspective of the artists captured with pencil, ink, and colour on paper or canvas.

We hope these sketches will brighten your visit to the Gardens and perhaps inspire you to pick up sketching as well.
