Speaker Series (May 2025): Getting to know Gnetum and its relatives - living and extinct!

Description: We are pleased to have with us Professor Sir Peter Crane FRS, who will share about the tropical climber and tree Gnetum. He will also introduce Gnetum's closest relatives - Ephedra and Welwitschia. These three plants are the last living representatives of an ancient botanical lineage that flourished more than 100 million years ago during the heyday of the dinosaurs.
