Skyrise greenery includes two main approaches: roof greening and vertical greening. When integrated effectively with sustainable building technologies, skyrise greenery can provide long-term environmental benefits and enhance aesthetic quality of our urban environment.
In this lecture, the basic concepts of skyrise greening and sustainable building will be explained. Major issues of sustainable building solutions will be discussed including solar energy systems, thermal and energy performance, and storm water management.

ABOUT THE TRAINER
Dr Sam C M Hui is a Hong Kong based lecturer and researcher, specialising in building sustainability and building energy usage in metropolitan settings. He has published several guidelines and journals pertaining to green roofs and sustainable buildings and has been appointed as a technical expert on several occasions.
Dr Sam also lectures at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) and Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) on topics ranging from sustainable building solutions, thermal and energy performance, building services engineering.
