Professional Speaker Series - Introduced Cavities As Nest Boxes

An overview of techniques, research, fauna uptake and tree response of the introduced cavities and hollows in both live and dead standing trees will be shared by the trainer. Participants will gain a better understanding of the latest research and findings on introduced cavities in live trees within the context of South Eastern Australia.  The tools and methods used, the level of uptake from target fauna species, patterns of usage over time, issues and limitations.  Additionally, participants will also learn about the potential uses, risks / risk management, comparisons with nest box use, tree response and the likely direction of future management practices and research.

About the Trainer

Mark Cashmore is the founder and Managing Director of Treetec Pty Ltd, which specialises in arboricultural and ecological research ― mainly for large government and quasi-government landowners and managers in Australia. By background, Mark is an arborist with 20 years’ experience in tree contracting, utility vegetation management, incident investigation, safety compliance, habitat research and horticultural consulting.
