SkillsFuture Credit

SkillsFuture is a national movement to provide Singaporeans with the opportunities to develop their fullest potential throughout life, regardless of their starting points. Through this movement, the skills, passion and contributions of every individual will drive Singapore's next phase of development towards an advanced economy and inclusive society.

All Singaporeans aged 25 and above will receive an opening credit of S$500 from January 2016. Currently, all WSQ courses offered by CUGE are eligible under this scheme. The credits can be used on top of existing course fee subsidies provided by the Government.

Workfare Skills Support (WSS) Scheme 

The WSS scheme, which has replaced WTS scheme from 1 July 2020, encourages low wage workers to undertake training that leads to more impactful employment outcomes.

Eligible individuals may receive:

  • Training allowance for selected courses that individuals had paid for themselves
  • A cash reward for completing training

SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) Funding for Certifiable Courses - For Employer-Based Training

CUGE is an SSG-appointed Continuing Education & Training (CET) Centre that offers Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ) courses and some non-WSQ courses at subsidised rates. Singaporeans, PRs and are eligible for course fee subsidies. Employers can also tap on absentee payroll support funding for employer-sponsored training.

Currently, all CUGE WSQ courses are eligible.

1. Course Fee Funding for Self-Sponsored Individuals

For self-sponsored individuals, baseline course fee funding is available to Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents, and Long Term Visitor Pass Plus (LTVP+) holders. Singapore citizens aged 40 years and above are eligible for further enhanced subsidy of SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy (MCES). Details are as per Table 1 below. Singapore Citizens (SCs), Permanent Residents (PRs) and LTVP+ holders Up to 70% of course fees
SCs aged ≥ 40 years old (SkillsFuture Mid-career Enhanced Subsidy) Up to 90% of course fees

2. Course Fee and Absentee Payroll Funding for Employers

Course Fee and Absentee Payroll Funding are available for employers who sponsor employees for training as per Table 2 and Table 3 below. For more information, click here.

$4.50 per hour, capped at $100,000 per enterprise per calendar year

Singapore Citizens aged ≥ 35 years (or Persons with Special Needs aged 13 and above), earning a monthly salary ≤ $2,300/month
(Workfare Skills Support)

95% of hourly basic salary

For training outside working hours, subject to employer top-up of balance 5% of hourly basic salary

For training conducted outside working hours, Absentee Payroll funding is given to the employers to defray the overtime pay that was paid to their employees. Hence to qualify for Absentee Payroll funding, employers must have in place a HR policy which provides for the payment of overtime pay to employees for these training hours and pay their employees overtime pay for these hours, in accordance with the HR policy.
