CUGE-ARB-3008 Tree Transplanting (Level 1)

You have invested time and money planning and choosing the ideal tree to plant in your landscape. However, landscapes evolve constantly due to urbanization and developments and at some point, you may need to relocate the tree you have planted. This course will introduce the basic considerations and expertise to relocate small trees with root ball less than 500mm in diameter.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

This two-day course aims to provide learners with a practical understanding of on the ground considerations necessary to transplant tropical trees. This includes tree care during the transplant process as well as logistical considerations such as road clearance etc. Case scenarios will be shared during class to provide a better understanding as well as enforce learning.

ABOUT THE TRAINER

Mr Elango Velautham, Assistant Director in Singapore Botanic Gardens (SBG), specialises mainly in the fields of arboriculture and conservation. He is an ISA-certified arborist, and a Certified Practising Horticulturist. He has an MSc in Advanced in Taxonomy and Biodiversity from Imperial College London. Since 2009, he has implemented in SBG, best management practices in living collections management, arboriculture (especially on Heritage Trees), and in the conservation of native tree species of the region.
