Overview

As Singapore moves towards becoming a City in Nature, people and wildlife are increasingly sharing a common space. Together with our outreach efforts to educate the public on how to interact with wildlife responsibly, there is a need to develop a professional, competent and core group of animal management specialists who are often called in to mitigate human-wildlife incidents. This programme aims to equip animal management specialists with the skills to perform their work while ensuring public and personnel safety, and animal welfare.

In particular, this intermediate elective module will focus on mammals.

Programme Objectives

  • Identify and distinguish common mammals in Singapore;
  • Perform macaque dispersal ("guarding") safely and effectively; and
  • Handle and trap specific mammals while ensuring public safety, personnel safety and animal welfare.

Facilitators

Programme facilitators are locally-based industry professionals with knowledge and experience in animal management.
