WSQ Courses for Supervisors (Level 3)

The Supervisor in the landscape industry is responsible for the execution of operations at worksites. He/she plans the manpower deployment and oversees the execution of work as per established schedule, procedures and Workplace Safety and Health regulations. He/she monitors performance of the work done and reports to the management on a regular basis. The Supervisor should be proficient at communication to communicate expectations of work clearly and report on issues and challenges as required. He/she should also have an eye for detail to be able to spot problems at the work site.

Pre-requisites

Participants should meet the following entry requirements for the WSQ courses for supervisors (Level 3):

  • At least 1 year of work experience in landscape maintenance or completed the related Level 2 courses; and
  • Able to understand and speak English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employment Skills System Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 4.

  • Set up safe work area to minimise worksite risks and hazards
  • Operate chainsaw on ground to saw tree trunks using required techniques
  • Implement processes to minimise negative environmental impacts associated with chainsaw operations
