Distribution Known only from North Australia, southern Japan, China, Indonesia and Singapore. In Singapore waters found at 18m between Pulau Ubin and Pulau Tekong, intertidally at Chek Jawa and at 17m off Pulau Semakau.

Conservation Notes With the loss of much of the sea bed habitat of this species through recent extensive land reclamation at Pulau Tekong, the remaining intertidal/subtidal habitat, at Chek Jawa and the site at the Southern Islands, should both be designated as Marine Protected Areas.
