Description

Description Wings are reddish-brown and apical portion of the forewing is deep blue with a few blue or whitish discal and sub-marginal spots. Males have unmarked hindwing but females have sub-marginal series of small, diffused whitish spots. Underside is brown with usual Euploea white spots along the wing margins.

Ecology, Habitat & Location

Ecological Notes It has been reliably seen only on Pulau Ubin so far, where a small colony of the species exists. It can be found feeding on the flowers of shrubs and bushes, and is particularly attracted to the dried plants of Heliotropium indicum. It is seasonally common, but then disappears as suddenly for a few months before reappearing again.

Distribution The species is widely spread, occurring from Taiwan and from south Burma, throughout Southeast Asia to New Guinea, Australia and the Pacific Islands.
