Description

Size 13 cm
Description Small sized brightly coloured flycatcher. Both sexes have a yellow rump. Males have black upperparts and yellow underparts, white brow and wing patch. Females are a dull brown, with a smaller yellow rump and pale yellow underparts.

Ecology, Habitat & Location

Habitats Forest, Mangroves, Parks & Gardens
Distribution Breeds in Russia, China, Korea. A common winter visitor and passage migrant between Sep and Mar. The flycatcher is widespread throughout Singapore during the winter months and can be found in wooded areas and parks. It is also common at Sungei Buloh when numbers peak in Sep and Oct.

Conservation Notes A common winter visitor and passage migrant between Sep and Mar. The flycatcher is widespread throughout Singapore during the winter months and can be found in wooded areas and parks. It is also common at Sungei Buloh when numbers peak in Sep and Oct. However, sightings are not easy to come by and mist netting has helped to detect their presence in the wetland.
