Description
| Description | The male of this species has a red bill with brown mandible, a greyish-blue head, blackish upper-back (mantle), dark purple lower backs and upper tails, and greenish wings. Its breast is mostly olive green, sometimes tinged with blue. The less colourful females have a brown bill, a brown head, blue back, and is mostly green on its undersides. The juvenile of both sexes look similar to females, but with a green crown which extends to the side of its head. |

| Ecological Notes | Breeds in May to June, and nests in natural tree holes high above the ground. In Singapore, breeding of this species has not been reported. |
