Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form Small succulent plant.
Foliage Lanceolate leaves are green with dark purplish tips and arranged in a rosette. They are hairless except for short, white hairs that line the leaf margins.
Flowers Produces daisy-like flowers. The plant only flowers once and then dies.
Habitat Occurs in open grasslands and on rocks.
Etymology The genus comes from the Latin "semper" (always) and "vivus" (living). It's called "always living," because the species in this genus are able to withstand difficult growing conditions.
