Growth Form Shrub like, soft stemmed herb with spreading branches,  to about 40cm tall
Foliage Leaves 5-12cm long, peltate, strongly pointed at both ends. Base color of leaf olive - mid green with dark red spots and a dark red border around the leaf margin.
Flowers Flowers greenish white
Etymology The species epithet 'amphioxus' refers to the shape of the leaf, which is pointed on both sides.
