Description

Description Body covered in weakly keeled overlapping scales, symmetrical arrangement of large scales on top of the head. Body olive above with a series of white spots with blackish edges, bright green below. Hatchlings black above with narrow red bands and a uniformly red tail, the red gradually changes into yellow and green with growth.

Ecology, Habitat & Location

Ecological Notes Known to inhabit mature forest where it is largely terrestrial and diurnal in habits and feeds mainly on small invertebrates. Gives birth to live young.

Distribution The only recent Singapore records are from the Central Nature Reserves and Pulau Ubin. Occurs in southern Thailand down the Malay Peninsula to Singapore, Borneo, Sumatra and Java.
