Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form Clusia rosea 'Variegata' is a small tree growing up to 6-10 m tall, with a spreading crown.
Foliage The variegated leaves are thick and leathery, arranged in opposite pairs.
Flowers The flowers of Clusia rosea 'Variegata' are showy, pink and white-colored, measuring 5-8 cm wide. The flowers turn brown with age.
Fruits Its green fruits are globose, measuring about 7 cm in diameter. The fruit splits open evenly when ripe, exposing showy red seeds.
Etymology Genus Clusia is named after Carolus Clusius (1526 - 1609), a celebrated French botanist and also professor of botany in University of Leyden. Species rosea means rose-like or rose-coloured.
