Biogeography

Native Distribution Southwest Mexico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Leeward Island, Trinidad-Tobago, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panamá and Guyana. 

Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form A small, sympodial orchid. It has a clumping growth form. 
Foliage The leaves originate from the cylindrical to ovoid pseudobulbs and each leaf is subtended by a large basal bract. The leaf is leathery and simple. 
Flowers The flowers are borne on a short raceme. Each raceme bears 3 to 10 flowers. Each flower has cream coloured petals and sepals. The flower lip is cream with purple stripes running down the length of the lip. 
Cultivation It is best grown under light shade and should be watered regularly when in active growth. It is best mounted on fern or tree bark or grown in very free draining medium.
