Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form It is a climber. Its branches, undersides of leaf blades, and flowering shoots are sparsely hairy.
Foliage Its opposite, stalked leaves have leaf blades that are elliptic-egg-shaped, and 6.4–13 by 3–5.6 cm, with round bases.
Flowers Its branched flowering shoots are spreading and bear pink flowers that are almost 2.5 cm long. These shoots are found at the leaf axils and the ends of leafy twigs.
Fruit Its fruits are cylindrical-bell-shaped, almost hairless, and 6.4 mm across.
Habitat It grows on trees in forests.
Associated Fauna Its flowers are insect-pollinated.
Cultivation It can be propagated by seed.
Etymology Greek dissochaeta, double hair or bristle, referring to the anthers; Latin pallidus, greenish, rather pale, referring to the colour of the leaf blades when dry
