Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form It is a climber.
Foliage Its alternate, stalked leaves have leathery leaf blades that are elliptic- to drop-shaped-elliptic and 6.3–10 by 3.1–4.5 cm.
Flowers Its flowers are solitary or in pairs. Its sepals are broadly egg-shaped, with acute tips, and finely hairy outside. Its outer petals are thick, flat, egg-shaped, and blunt.
Fruit Its fruits are round and 0.6 cm wide. Each fruit contains 2 seeds.
Habitat It grows in rainforests.
Associated Fauna Its flowers are insect-pollinated.
Etymology Latin mitre, capped; Latin kentii, commemorating Colonel Kent, an English soldier and botanist.
