CITES

Singapore has been a Party to The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) since November 1986. CITES is an international agreement that ensures wildlife species are not threatened to extinction by trade. It regulates international trade in CITES-listed species of live animals and plants (including their parts and derivatives)  by requiring CITES permits before the consignments are allowed to leave or enter a country.

In Singapore, NParks is the national authority that implements and enforces CITES regulations. For more information on the classification of species under the Convention and trade in CITES species, visit [link to NParks CITES link].
