Ecological Notes Shallow sandy flats. Moves about just beneath the surface of the sand leaving a large trail. Carnivorous, and sometimes feeds on remains of other marine animals.

Trends & Threats Habitat degradation; collection for marine curio trade.
Scientific Interest & Potential Value Shell trade.
Conservation Notes Common on shallow sand banks up to the 1970s but rare since then. Designation of marine nature areas or protected areas would be a useful step.
