Description

Size 35 cm
Description Long, thick, black straight bill; long legs. Breeding: Blackish-brown barring on flanks. Upperparts blackish fringed with pale-brown. Non-breeding: upperparts blackish-grey with pale fringes. Breast and neck washed grey with fine brown streaks. Belly white.

Ecology, Habitat & Location

Habitats Mudflats
Distribution Breeds in West, central and east Siberia, Mongolia, North China; winters in East India, Southeast Asia and north Australia. Classified globally as near threatened. Rare winter visitor. One individual seen in August 2008. They often stop over for just for one day at the wetland.
