Description and Ethnobotany
| Growth Form | Shrub up to 2 m tall with an erect growth form. |
|---|---|
| Foliage | Lance-shaped leaves are mostly green with a greenish yellow, cream-flecked margin. The leaf margin is lined with coarse, rounded or pointed teeth that are irregularly spaced from one another. |
| Flowers | White, tubular flowers are densely arranged in a terminal inflorescence. The flower bud is flattened and circular, resembling an upside down musical note. It opens to form a 2-lipped flower with the upper lobe divided into 2 parts and the lower lobe divided into 3 parts. The long stamens are 2-3 times the length of the lobes and are mostly dark purple, but whitish near the base of the filaments. The stigma is solid dark purple. |
