Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form Large herb to 5m tall
Foliage Leaf blades to 1m in length, lacerating with age.
Stems Stems with glaucous, waxy bloom
Flowers Inflorescence pendent, to 1m in length. Bracts 10-20, red with yellow keel; tip of keel with green tint. Rachis of inflorescence red, or in some specimens yellow towards the tip of the inflorescence (where youngest bracts are located). Flowers yellow to golden yellow.
