Growth Form Tuberous herb 
Foliage Leaves dark green with dull silvery white veins, 5-15cm in length by 5-10cm wide, pubescent. 
Flowers Flowers borne singly,  on long stalks to 10cm in height, lavender - purple; campanulate/ bell shaped, corolla tube 4-5cm long by 2.5-3 cm wide
Cultivation Differs from the Florists' Gloxina (Sinningia speciosa cultivars) in the following manner:  - Mouth (of flower) inclined downwards/ held at an angle and are downward facing -  Flowers are distinctly campanulate
