Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form Perennial rhizomatous herb up to 60 cm tall with a creeping growth form..
Foliage The small leaves have a toothed leaf margin.
Stems Four-sided, red or green stems are slightly hairy.
Flowers Star-shaped flowers are mostly white with purplish tints. They are arranged in tight clusters in the leaf axils (the place where the leaf is attached to the stem). Most flowers are female with a few bisexual flowers.
Fruit The fruit usually does not form.
Taxonomy This hybrid is a cross between spearmint (Mentha spicata) and wild mint (Mentha arvensis).
Cultivation Plant in well-drained soil that is kept moist. It tends to grow aggressively and should be planted in a pot before placing it in the ground. Apply bone meal twice a year as a slow-release form of phosphorous.

Food (Herb or Spice): In Vietnamese cuisine, this mint is added to chicken or beef soup known as pho.
