Foliage | Compound leaf is composed of 5 – 9 leaflets where terminal leaflet is elliptic to obovate (6 – 9 cm x 3 – 4.5 cm). Leaf texture is somewhat leathery with both sides either hairless or covered in short, stiff hairs. Young leaves are reddish. |
Flowers | Purple flowers are arranged in clusters known as pseudoracemes or pseudopanicles. The inflorescence stalk is attached above the point of leaf attachment along the stem. |
Fruit | Fruit is a flat, winged pod which is hairless (4 – 9.5 x 1.5 – 2.6 cm). Flattened seeds are disc- or bean-shaped (9 – 12 x 7 – 11 x 1 – 4 mm). |
