Bonsai and Brick Art Workshop, 22nd September 2018
Jurong Lake Gardens organised a bonsai workshop that was conducted by Mr Tay Kiah Phuang from the Yuhua Bonsai & Artistic Stone Club on 22 September 2018, as well as a garden-themed brick art workshop for kids together with Mr Lee Aik Lam from Taman Jurong CC Brick Art Interest Group.
The Bonsai workshop covered an overview of the concept of bonsai, various types of bonsai, and also included a hands-on session on how to grow and maintain bonsai plants. Each participant had the opportunity to prune, re-pot, and bring his or her bonsai plant home at the end of the session.
The garden-themed brick art workshop allowed the participants to enjoy a creative time with their parents to build their own structure that would reflect the gardens, as beautifully and as imaginatively as they could. Throughout the event the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Both workshops were well-received, with several participants expressing interest in further involvement in other bonsai-related, children programs as well as greening activities in the future.
